Liuwa Plain Law Enforcement staff attended an Investigations and Prosecutions Seminar
From the 13th to 20th of October, a total of 34 of our Law Enforcement team successfully completed an Investigations and Prosecutions seminar that was facilitated by our partner organisation, ZAWA. The team of facilitators was led by Mr. Phanwell Moonga the Area Warden for Western Area Management Unit (Western Region).
This was an intense workshop fully sponsored by African Parks aimed at improving the way law enforcement staff investigate and prosecute cases under the Zambian Wildlife Act. Some of the topics covered during the seminar included: how to make arrests, collection of evidence, record statements from witnesses and suspects, execution of search warrants and warrants of arrest, presentation of facts in the Court of Law, management of exhibits, adherence to ZAWA and APZ codes of conduct, and HIV awareness, among others.
