Akagera National Park, Rwanda

Visitor Info

Akagera National Park has recorded over 23,048 visitors for the 2012 year, an increase of 12% from 2011 and an overall 24% increase over the past two years.

Long regarded as one of Rwanda's unrealised tourism jewels, Akagera has experienced substantial growth in tourism numbers over the last year.  The fact that 50% of visitors to the park are Rwandan citizens reflects the extent to which Akagera has become a source of national pride.

During 2011 many improvements in accessibility and tourism activities have been made including the development of a new road network, signage and maps and the introduction of boats for lake-based tourism activities.
