A total of 70 community based associations have been established around the periphery of the park and two local community representatives have been elected to the Board of the newly created Odzala-Kokoua Foundation. The immediate future will see the formation of eco-development zones in which agro-forestry will be encouraged and facilitated, enabling community utilisation of the park periphery. African Parks is currently in consultation with the 70 local village associations to discuss specific socio-economic development needs which will lead to the provision of education and health facilities in the villages surrounding the park.
