Liuwa Plain National Park | Zambia PDF Print E-mail

Liuwa Plain National Park is situated in the Upper Zambezi flood plains of Western Zambia. The park covers an area of 3,660km2 of vast wooded islands, and the plain from which the park takes its name is 70km long and 30 km wide. The park plays a vital role in the Zambezi's catchment and is flooded from late December to June each year. This intricate ecosystem supports an abundance of wildlife including over 33.000 wildebeest, plentiful camivores and huge flocks of a great diversity of birds. This is one of the last remaining wilderness destinations in Africa.
