Armando’s early interests in conservation led him to Tanzania in 1998 where he completed a Wildlife Management Diploma through the College of African Wildlife Management. He holds a Masters Degree in Agricultural Extension and Rural Resource Management, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Rural Resource Management from South Africa’s University of KwaZulu Natal. Armando was appointed as Warden of Mozambique’s Banhine National Park in 1998, and transferred to the Maputo Special Reserve in 2006; first as a Community Liaison Officer, then as Technical Advisor to the Park Warden through Peace Parks Foundation. He later filled the Project Manager post for the Lubombo Trans-Frontier Conservation Area and was appointed as Warden of the Maputo Special Reserve in 2012. Before joining African Parks, Armando worked as State Manager for the Machangulo private Nature Reserve.
