AboutLiwonde

LIWONDE NATIONAL PARK IN SOUTHERN MALAWI IS KNOWN FOR SOME OF THE BEST RIVER-BASED WILDLIFE VIEWING IN ALL OF AFRICA.

This vibrant and productive ecosystem ranges from fertile floodplains to towering baobabs and woodlands to lagoons. It supports over 400 species of birds and harbours Malawi’s largest remaining populations of elephant and critically endangered black rhino.

Illegal harvesting of fish and other natural resources and human-wildlife conflict pose the largest threats, which are being brought under control to secure the safety of both people and wildlife in and around the park.
