Mahamat started his career as teacher before starting as guard in Zakouma in 1999. He slowly but steadily climbed the ladder in the Law Enforcement Department from amongst other patrol Team leader, LE Administrator and in 2015 Head of the Law Enforcement in 2015. After a heavy motor accident and a long rehabilitation period, he re-joined the team in 2017, first as Head of anti-poaching intelligence and later he regained the function of Head of the Law Enforcement.
