Park Management

After completing secondary school, Martin started working as a Department of National Parks and Wildlife ranger in Liwonde National Park in 2004. He attended the Malawi College of Forestry and Wildlife from 2009, gaining a certificate in Wildlife Management. Martin later studied at the Southern African Wildlife College in South Africa in 2013, where he received a Diploma in Natural Resource Management, after which he joined African Parks in 2015 as the Head of Law Enforcement at Majete Wildlife Reserve.

Always looking to expand his knowledge and experience, Martin has gone on to gain a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies in 2022 at the Catholic University of Malawi, and then participated in a learning exchange to Matusadona National Park in Zimbabwe for nine months in 2023. On his return to Majete at the end of 2023, he was promoted to Trainee Field Operations Manager and now oversees several departments that are critical to the park operations on the ground.
